The German states of West Germany and East Germany grew to become focal points from the Chilly War, but were reunified in 1990. Whilst there were fears which the reunified Germany may resume nationalist politics, the place is these days commonly regarded as a "stablizing actor in the guts of Europe" along with a "promoter of democratic integration"
